Hong Kong – Moon Lok Chiu Chow (Mira Place) has extended Hong Kong hospitality group Buick Management’s 60-year heritage as an icon of Chiu Chow cuisine into the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui. The new dining hot spot is operated by Hong Kong-based hospitality group Buick Management, which also runs Moon Lok Chiu Chow in Citygate, and Moon Lok Chinese Restaurant at Xiqu Centre in West Kowloon Cultural District.
Group flagship restaurant brand Pak Loh Chiu Chow has been a household name synonymous with southern Guangdong’s culinary tradition since its founding in Causeway Bay in 1967. In contemporary design evoking the back-to-nature lifestyle of Chiu Chow villages, the new Moon Lok Chiu Chow (Mira Place) now extends a contemporary sister brand expanding from Citygate Tung Chung to Mira Place, Tsim Sha Tsui.
Continuing uncompromising commitment to top-quality cuisine, Moon Lok Chiu Chow (Mira Place) celebrates opening with exclusive newly-crafted specialty dishes and three set menus designed for table sharing from 1 May to 30 June 2021 – just in time for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
The new specialties are curated by Group Executive Chef Hui Mei-Tak, a multi-award winning master in the Chiu Chow culinary school to excite gourmets of Chinese cuisine, spotlighting Double-boiled Bird’s Nest in Papaya (a la cart priced HK$300) – a ‘nest’ marrying the delectable texture, rich flavor and beauty nutrients that make bird’s nest prized in Chinese culture within colorful, nutritious and healthy papaya. Crispy-skin Sea Cucumber with Crabmeat and Pomelo Peel is a re-imagined innovation for the esteemed delicacy, re-inventing its soft, seductive texture with a crunchy bite and secret recipe pairing with crab’s fresh flavor of the sea and an aroma-enhancing citrus twist of pomelo.
Three enticing new 8-course set menus for lunch and dinner embrace the familiar, comforting charm of Chiu Chow cuisine.
Set of Happiness (HK$498 / head) lunch menu for at least two starts with Assorted Dim Sum Platter of shrimp, steamed pork and vegetable dumplings, followed by savory courses of Double-boiled Bird’s Nest in Papaya or Braised Seafood in Superior Soup, Crispy-skin Sea Cucumber with Crabmeat and Pomelo Peel, Rice Vermicelli with Pepper Crab in Pot and Braised Whole Dried Scallop with Cucumber. Completing the menu are sweet courses of dessert Longevity Peach Buns Stuffed with Lotus Paste and Salted Egg Yolk and Braised Papaya with Snow Fungus Sweet Soup, finishing with Seasonal Fruit Platter.
Among two set dinner menus for at least two, Set of Joy (HK$588 / head) features Deep-fried Sea Prawn wrapped with Crispy Noodle, Double-boiled Bird’s Nest in Papaya or Braised Seafood in Superior Soup, Braised Sea Cucumber and Goose Web with Shrimp Roe, Deep-fried Crispy Pigeon, Dried Scallops and Minced Pork with Melon, and finishing courses of Longevity Peach Bun, Braised Papaya with Snow Fungus Sweet Soup and Seasonal Fruit Platter.

Moon Lok Chiu Chow’s (Mira Place) interior design references the back-to-nature village roots of its cuisine in southern Guangdong, yet in trendy contemporary style. Natural wood flooring and bamboo fixtures with banquette and curvy chair in comforting shades of olive green, sky blue, earthy brown, and autumnal orange acknowledge the coastal and Pearl River delta influences on Chiu Chow’s culinary style. Classic celestial lighting over ‘orbiting moon’ chandeliers and ‘half-moon’ bamboo alcoves meanwhile reflect the brand’s name – with a tribute to its iconic heritage as a dependable permanent fixture on the Hong Kong restaurant scene since the 1960s.
Group Executive Chef Hui Mei-Tak said: “Moon Lok Chiu Chow (Mira Place) is an exciting development for our beloved brand – combining our distinguished heritage in Chiu Chow cuisine dating back over half a century and renowned commitment to quality with contemporary style and creative culinary innovation reflecting the vibrancy of the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui.”
